VENUE TO RENT. Studio space is available at The Dance Centre for teaching and training by community and other groups, 7 days a week, by arrangement, for dance, fitness, health, and related activities. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
PLANET DANCE:
From Beginners to
Advanced (age 10-adult), you can usually start at any time. No prior
dance experience is needed. The main dance styles:
Ballroom + Latin - part of the Dancesport repertoire. We specialise
in social dance.
Argentine Tango - all forms.
Salsa - genuine LA style (On1), New York style (On2), Cuban.
Modern Jive - aka Le Bop, Le Step, LaRoc, Ceroc, etc - our
Latin Rock has definite footwork and timing, different styling, lots
of new moves, and is quite unique.
... in addition, Bachata, Merengue, Zouk, Rock n Roll, and more.
Casual classes and courses. You don’t have to bring a partner. Courses are normally 10 weeks - see "Upcoming Events" below for details.
Teachers trained by world-class internationals: proper technique, usable skills, stylish moves, graded programmes, and a great atmosphere, with fun, safety, and excellent value for money. Private lessons are available (at your place or ours). Visiting teachers from NZ and overseas.
Join the fun and learn the authentic forms of the dances sweeping the world.
Performances, parties, practices, appraisals; course completion and formal assessment certificates.
Annual assessments are held in early October. These are voluntary.
Your goals might include social dancing, learning to dance for your wedding, new friends, general and dance fitness, weight loss, basic or advanced training, Shows, and competitions. There is something for everyone.
We will also come to your venue to teach - for parties, work functions, etc.
Professional end-of-year Show for students who wish to perform.
JAZZ Unlimited:
From Beginners to Advanced (age 3-adult).
Highly qualified, committed and caring teachers. An inclusive, positive culture.
Professional syllabi (AJDA for American Jazz and Tap; BBO for classical ballet; Broken Beat Dance Syllabus for Hip Hop), an exam programme (jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop), demo crews, cheerleading, fun classes, holiday classes, competitions, and Shows. There are also non-exam adult classes.
Classes are course-based, and students enrol and pay by the term. Private lessons are available.
Visiting teachers from overseas run workshops annually (Phoenix International).
Gain dance and teamwork skills, performance experience, fitness & general health, self-esteem, friendships, and highly regarded qualifications.
If you have or wish to develop the skill-set for teaching, we provide in-house training and teaching opportunities - please ask for details.
Exams are held in Term 3 (August and September). These are not compulsory, but are highly recommended in the exam-based classes.
